DENSITY SEPARATOR
EFFICIENT DENSITY SEPARATION FOR C&D WASTE AND MORE
Caracal® CDS-Series Density Separators have been designed to efficiently remove light contaminants from Construction & Demolition waste, improving material purity and recovery rates. Using a water-based separation process, heavier fractions sink while wood, plastics and other light materials are lifted and swept away separately. The result is clean, reusable output, reduced waste and optimised downstream processing. Adjustable settings and modular options allow the system to be tailored to different material types and site requirements.
Each model improve the quality and value of recycled aggregates by removing light contaminants efficiently and consistently. By reducing manual sorting, protecting downstream equipment and delivering cleaner output, they lower operating costs while increasing resale potential. Compact and easy to integrate into existing lines, they offer a fast return on investment and are ideal for both standalone use and complete recycling plants.
REDUCE YOUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Density Separators support sustainable C&D waste processing by reducing landfill volumes and increasing the recovery of reusable aggregates. By separating light contaminants efficiently, they enable cleaner material streams suitable for reuse in new construction applications.
WHAT IS A DENSITY SEPARATOR?
A Density Separator is a type of recycling machine that separates materials through flotation in a water-based system. In Construction & Demolition waste applications, heavy materials such as concrete, bricks and aggregates sink to the bottom, while lighter contaminants like wood, plastics and foam float and are removed separately. An additonal silt screw conveyor separates the fine particles. By separating sinking fractions from floating ones, the system improves material purity and increases recovery of reusable aggregates.
WHAT DOES A DENSITY SEPARATOR CONSIST OF?
A typical density separator includes:
- Main Chassis
- Feeding chute
- Water sump
- Conveyor for Heavy Fractions
- Conveyor with Swiping Brushes
- Silt screw conveyor
- Discharge Stock Conveyor
-
01 HIGH MATERIAL PURITY -
02 LOW OPERATING COST -
03 COMPACT & MODULAR DESIGN
-

Advanced Density Separation for Cleaner C&D Recycling Engineered for precision and reliability, the system features adjustable conveyor speeds and controlled water flow for accurate separation. Its reinforced steel tank construction ensures durability in demanding environments, while frequency inverters and an integrated control panel provide stable, energy-efficient operation. Modular options allow easy integration into existing recycling lines. -
Compact Design Designed with mobility in mind, these compact Caracal® Density Separators feature a hydraulic folding conveyor for simplified transport and rapid installation. Its transport-friendly structure reduces logistics complexity, while the folding system allows quick positioning and start-up on site. Built for efficient relocation, it is ideal for projects requiring flexible and straightforward set-up.
-

Heavy-Duty Feed System The foldable feeding chute is lined with abrasion-resistant sheet metal to withstand harsh and abrasive materials commonly found in C&D waste applications. This reinforced design extends component life, reduces wear-related maintenance and ensures consistent material flow into the separation system. The folding structure also simplifies transport and installation, combining durability with practical site operation. -
Optional Silt Screw System Available as an option, the silt screw system removes settled fines from the separation tank to prevent build-up and maintain efficient operation. By reducing abrasion and protecting key components, it helps extend equipment life and minimise maintenance requirements. The silt can be processed further to recover recycled sand.
